Now in its fourth year, the spirited publication, which is hosted by Global Underwater Explorers (GUE), the global community of impassioned technical divers, has a simple goal: “benevolent world domination!” according to a recent press release.

Legendary American explorer John Moyer has dived many wrecks along the North American eastern seaboard. But his name is synonymous with the Andrea Doria wreck, on which he made over 120 dives in the '80s and ‘90s, salvaging artifacts, and conducted in-depth research. In this interview by Andrea Murdock Alpini, we gain insight into his life and deep relationship with the Andrea Doria.

For a cave diver, it is always an exciting moment to be the first to dive a location that has not been visited by other divers before. The Laplet slate mine in the Belgian Ardennes was such a location for our small group of explorers.
BSAC launches Advanced Ocean Diver course
Advanced Ocean Diver (AOD) is an optional course that gives new divers more choice and flexibility as they progress with their training.
The course is open to all Ocean Divers (or divers who have an equivalent certification from another recognised diver training agency and have also completed Nitrox training) aged 14 and over.
Outline
The Advanced Ocean Diver course includes four theory sessions, which can be completed either via eLearning or in person with an instructor, giving flexibility for students and instructors.

Rebreathers are great pieces of kit that do away with the need to carry an excessive amount of dive cylinders on deeper dives. However, this advantage is offset by the need to also carry additional open circuit cylinders on which a diver can bail out in case of a rebreather malfunction. Using another rebreather could be a better solution and to that end, a bailout rebreather course has been developed.
