'In-water Recompression: Pros and Cons' Talk

The DAN Research Team are holding one of their FREE community lectures this coming Wednesday evening, 5th February 2014, in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr Matias Nochetto, Dr Neal W Pollock, Dr Neal Polllock, Dr Dick Vann, Roz Lunn
Dr. Matias Nochetto is the DAN Director of Outreach
Is in-water recompression an alternative to standard treatment or is it a heroic resource for remote diving operations? Dr Matias Nochetto will discuss in-water recompression and help prepare those who may face this critical decision.

The rationale of using pressure to treat DCS is relatively easy to understand. Using the water column pressure is a compelling idea, but does in-water treatment offer the same risks and benefits as treatment in a hyperbaric chamber?

Doors will open at 18.15. for a pre-event social, and light refreshments will be served. The presentation begins at 19.00 and will last approximately 45-55 minutes. A 30-minute question-and-answer session will follow.

Admission to the lecture is free, and no registration is required.

The DAN Lecture Series is held bi-monthly on the first Wednesday of every other month, 19.00 - 20.30. The program helps the Research Department expand their dialogue with local divers and facilitate their continuing efforts to develop new talks.

Upcoming Lectures in this Fourth Series include:

April 2: "When Pressure Changes are Not About Diving” presented by Dr. Neal W. Pollock

June 4: "The Science of Breathing Underwater" presented by Niles W. Clarke

August 6: "Diving With Implanted Medical Devices" presented by Marty McCafferty
